2013-14 BZOC Enrollment Information for 8th Graders visit:

CURRENT high school students (grades 9 - 12) that live in the Belmont Zone of Choice (BZOC) attendance area and presently attend a charter school or private school and want to apply for the 2013-2014 school year, must apply starting in May 2013.

 

Type your address in LAUSD's RESIDENT SCHOOL IDENTIFIER.  If Academic Leadership Community, Belmont HS, Civitas SOL, Contreras LC, Cortines School for VAPA, L.A. Global Studies, L.A. Teacher Prep, and Roybal LC appear as choices for grades 9-12, you belong to the Belmont Zone of Choice.   

 

The information below is for CURRENT 8th grade students living in the Belmont attendance area who want to apply to the Belmont Zone of Choice schools. Please read FAQ to determine:

1) if you live in the BZOC area.  If so, then...

2) which process to follow.

Process A- Student currently attends major feeder middle school (Berendo MS, Castro MS, Kim, Lietchy MS or Virgil MS)

Your child will take part in the electronic application process (2 STEPS).

  1. Students, beginning February 13, 2012, will be taken to the computer lab to rank all 17 schools (1 through17).
  2. Students will print out the “Parent Confirmation Letter” and take home for parents to sign.  If needed, Parents may change ranking and will sign and return “Confirmation Letter” to their middle school by the DEADLINE: February 27, 2012 at 3:30 pm
  3. Students applying AFTER February 27, 2012 can apply using the paper application.  2nd round applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be available to download starting February 28, 2012.  DEADLINE TO APPLY:  MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2012 at 3:30 pm. 
  4. Students applying AFTER April 30, 2012 can apply using a paper application.  3rd round applications for the 2012-2013 school year are available to download starting May 1, 2012.  DEADLINE TO APPLY:  THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2012 at 3:30 pm.  APPLICATIONS NOT SUBMITTED BY MAY 31, 2012 WILL BE ASSIGNED A SCHOOL AUTOMATICALLY.
  5.  Students that are NEW to the Belmont Zone of Choice attendance area may still use the expired 3rd round BZOC Application until June 30, 2012.  

Process B- Student currently attends a private, parochial, charter, non-LAUSD, LAUSD schools (non-major feeder middle schools)

 

  • If your child attends a Non-feeder Middle School (LAUSD only) your child will receive a hard copy of the application over the mail. Please mail back by DEADLINE: February 27, 2012.
  • If your child attends a private or charter middle school, download the application and return by DEADLINE: February 27,2012. APPLICATION for 2012-13 school year will be AVAILABLE ONLINE on FEBRUARY 6, 2012
  •  If your child did not apply by February 27, 2012, 2nd round applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be available to download starting February 28, 2012.  DEADLINE TO APPLY:  MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2012 at 3:30 pm.  
  • If your child did not apply by April 30, 2012, 3rd round applications for the 2012-2013 school year will be available to download starting May 1, 2012.  DEADLINE TO APPLY:  THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2012 at 3:30 pm.  APPLICATIONS NOT SUBMITTED BY MAY 31, 2012 WILL BE ASSIGNED A SCHOOL AUTOMATICALLY.
  • Students that are NEW to the Belmont Zone of Choice attendance area may still use the expired 3rd round BZOC Application until June 30, 2012.

All students who complete and return the application/confirmation letter by February 27, 2012 will be included in the random selection process.  Note:  We will do our best to accommodate the selection of those applications turned in AFTER the above deadline.

Last school year, 2010-2011, 84% of our students got their 1st choice. 97% of our students got 1 of their top 5 choices and less than 3% got choices 6th through 11th.
 

Please note space is limited and not all requests will be matched with top selections.
